Best Chlorine Shower Filter

None of us particularly like swimming in swimming pools full of chlorinated water.  There’s something just so horrible about it on your skin and it gets into your hair causing it to feel dead.  But the truth is that the shower you take in your own home could contain just as much chlorine, if not more.  This is what happens when you don’t use a shower with a chlorine filter.  Simply by having a chlorine filter fitted you’ll be able to drastically reduce or eliminate the amount of chlorine in your water.

The reason chlorine feels so horrible is due to the fact that it strips away the natural oils and bonds to the proteins in your skin and hair.  This could be one of the reasons so many people suffer from dry skin.  Chlorine also causes cellular damage which increases the visible signs of aging.  By purchasing an affordable chlorine shower filter you’ll very quickly begin to enjoy softer skin and glossy beautiful hair.  If you have blonde hair you will also know that chlorine can turn it a shade of green which is something I imagine you don’t want to happen.

When you’re having a lovely hot shower, the chlorine in the water becomes vaporized which allows it to enter the pores of your skin and into your lungs.  The odor can also irritate your nose, eyes, mucous membranes and throat.  In addition to this chlorine in your shower water can cause other problems such as headaches.  A more scary fact is that chlorine can, over time, increase your chances of developing bladder and colon cancer along with heart disease.

So it’s not just for vanity reasons you should buy a chlorine shower filter, it’s important for the health of you and your family as you won’t have to be exposed to these unnecessary chemicals.  If you or a member of your family suffer from allergies, asthma or other such respiratory conditions, then installing a shower filer is also highly recommended.  Chlorine along with chloramine (another chemical found in shower water) are both known for their ability to irritate mucus membranes which you have in your nose, eyes and throat.

Not only will installing a shower filter reduce the levels of chlorine in your water but it will also reduce the pH levels down to a more neutral range which is 7.0.  There are so many types of filtration system it’s very difficult to say exactly what is the best one.  There are different ways to filter chlorine and other chemicals plus some companies will exaggerate claims saying that they also remove a whole host of other chemicals.  It’s very difficult to know if these claims are based on fact so you should request data to prove what they say is true.  Also never buy a system from a company who doesn’t offer a full money back guarantee.

The good thing is that shower filters don’t have to cost that much money and they’re very easy and simple to install plus maintain.  You can expect to pay anywhere between $30 and $250 which will provide you with a filter that performs well.  The more expensive filters on the market won’t necessarily provide you with better filtration.  When comparing shower filters have a look for one which uses Chlorgon (Calcium Sulfite), Vitamin C (Ascorbate) or KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion).  The vitamin c and Chlorgon types are the best for removing chloramines.  It’s best to avoid one which uses carbon because they really aren’t very good quality and can even create a lot of germs which is certainly not something you want to happen.  Germs love to breed in warm and moist conditions which you shower provides and it feeds off the carbon which allows it to grow rapidly.  I don’t suppose you like the idea of germs being in your shower water, do you?

When it comes to your health, it’s very easy to fall for products which claim to improve your wellbeing.  The problem is that it’s usually very difficult to prove whether it works or not as with natural remedies you have to be patient.  However you can easily test the functioning of your shower filter by buying a chlorine test strip.  These are easily found on the interest for roughly $10 for a pack of 25.  To test the filters ability properly you should test for both free chlorine and chloramines.  Hopefully in the future our local water companies will find alternatives to chlorine and a chlorine shower filter will be a necessity of the past.

  1. Great article which I found really interesting. In my view although and unfortunatley so, the best way to clean window blinds is to take them down and give them a sponge bath in the shower using pinesol or lysol or something along those lines. any type of cleaner will be okay.
