Best Outdoor Ceiling Fan

Although we normally think of ceiling fans for being indoors, you can also have them outdoors too.  Indoor ceiling fans are so incredibly popular and you can find them in just about every room of the house and can often be viewed as an integral part of an interior.  There are so many benefits to ceiling fans as they are both convenient and efficient and come in a really great package, particularly when operated by remote control.  The first came into existence during the industrial revolution when factory owners needed to find a way of keeping their staff cool.  They are basically the same even today; blowing cool air about your home.  However not only can you find them indoors, but also outdoors too.  No kidding.

Most people enjoy spending tome in their garden with friends and family.  Lots of people spend large amounts of money landscaping their gardens so it would be a shame for all that hard work to go to waste if you aren’t going to enjoy the fruits of your labor.  There’s nothing more enjoyable then hanging out with some mates, cooking up some grub on the BBQ and drinking some beers.  But when it’s really hot, the heat can be unbearable so you want to find some ways to help you cool down.  It might seem like a good idea to turn on your air conditioning unit on at the max in hope that some of that cold air will make its way outside.  However a much better way of cooling yourself and your friends whilst enjoying the great weather is to buy an outdoor ceiling fan.  They really aren’t any different from indoor ceiling fans and provide you with ventilations along with cooling benefits.  Not only do they have the ability to cool things down, but they can also heat up your outdoor area when the temperature drops in the evening.  There’s no reason why you can’t still enjoy sitting in the garden when the temperature gets a bit cooler.  They also can come with lights which is great when sitting out in the evening when there isn’t any natural light in the sky.

A side benefit to owning an outdoor ceiling fan is that it creates a breeze which many insects such as midges and mosquitoes hate.  They find it more difficult to fly about so should leave you alone and go and annoy someone else who doesn’t own an outdoor ceiling fan.  So you shouldn’t need to use anywhere are much insect repellent as you might normally.

Although they work on the same principal as indoor fans, outdoor fans are a bit different in their design.  For instance, they have five blades and the motor is a lot larger.  This is simply because outdoor fans have to work a lot harder than the indoor variety.  Also, outdoor ceiling fans have to be built to withstand the heat from the sun and also outdoor pollution along with rain and wind.  Indoor fans are just not built to cope with these elements, so if you did use an indoor fan outdoors, they wouldn’t last very long.  Plus you would also probably make the guarantee void.

When buying an outdoor ceiling fan you should make sure you shop around and look at all the features.  You should also purchase one which is suitable for the size and layout of your garden.  Make sure you measure the size of your patio area too ensure you don’t end up with a fan that it either too big or too small.  Typical sizes are 36, 42, 52 and 60 inches.  You will also want to decide on the design of fan because this is something that will not be hidden from view.  You don’t want to end up buying an outdoor ceiling fan that you can’t stand the look of.  You will find that there is a wide variety of styles including tropical, modern, rustic, white, bronze, black and flush mount.
