Boston Fern and Erect Swordfern
The Boston fern (Nephrolepis Exaltata) is just one of the two popular indoor varieties of the Nephus rolepis fern, the other being the Erect Sword fern (N. Cordifolia). Both ferns feature long arching fronds with many pinnae. Both ferns are ideal if you want to achieve a lush exotic foliage. Also, if well looked after should look great all year round.
Light and Temperature
These ferns love bright sunlight, although avoid placing them in an area of direct sunlight. Normal room temperatures are fine as long as the temperature doesn’t go below 50 F.
Watering
Keep these plants well watered making sure that the roots don’t dry out. If the temperature goes above 70 F then increase the humidity by placing the pot on a tray of watered pebbles and also mist the plant with water.
Feeding
During the most active growth period, feed your fern with liquid fertilizer every few weeks.
