Good tips--I think that paint is such a great tool for selling or revamping your house. Updating cabinets by painting them has completely changed the look of our home for less than $200.

Yes, unconventional colors are difficult to do properly. I appreciate a bit of color in a home, but there's definitely a limit. When we moved into my current house, he kids' bathroom was nearly an electric blue, so we toned it down to a cool lilac. Our (smallish) master bath, on the other hand, was painted a deep maroon. We changed it to a pale yellow and it looks much bigger and is FAR less dreary. What the previous owners were thinking, I have no idea.

I personally like colorful houses but it has to be done right. If you paint a small bathroom bright red it can be overwelming.

Thank you for sharing these great tips. I must agree, if you paint your house before selling, go for natural colors such as white or light beige. Your house will look larger as well as lighter colors often creates an illusion of space. If you want to revamp your home for yourself (not for selling), try adding new towels, rugs and other interior decorations to save money.

Great comments on home improvements especially when it comes to selling. We have seen many homes sit on the market due to bright reds and yellows that scream to the prospective customer to re-paint. Great blog, thanks for sharing:-)
