Having mosquitoes in your home can be a real nuisance and no one can enjoy themselves with these pesky critters buzzing about and taking big bites out of you. It can seem like an impossible task to get rid of them but there are a number of different tips that you can try out which should help a lot.

There are traps available on the market which will trap the mosquitoes which utilizes heat to attract them. Then there’s bait which basically pretends to be human body odor. The bait will sit in an electrical control section and the mosquito will enter as they are attracted by the odor.

To deal with mosquitoes, it first helps to understand how they live and breed. They love stagnant water because this is where they breed so if you have any stagnant water in or around your home you should look to remove it. This means having a look at the water in your rain gutters and even in your flower pot trays. Make sure you get rid of the water and also anything that might be causing a blockage.

They also like to breed on tall grass so make sure you keep your grass short. This should send them packing to somewhere else. There are mosquito sprays that you can apply to your lawn too so as to repel them.

Try and keep the doors and windows of your property closed. There are screens that can be bought to place over your windows and doors so make sure you have them installed to prevent the mosquitoes from entering your home.

Look around for holes in your property that might be allowing these insects access. This means having a look at ventilation holes and having them properly sealed. You want to get rid of as many access routes to your house.

Another way to preventing mosquitoes from getting into your home is to prevent bringing them in on your skin and clothes. Try and check yourself to see if they are on you.

There are mosquito misting systems that can be bought too however they are one of the most costly options in getting rid of mosquitos. Have a look for companies that can have them installed for your home.

If you have a pond or would like to have one in your garden then you should look into getting some fish called Gambusia. They actually eat mosquitoes and are very easy to look after. You just need about 50 or so but it’s a good idea to ask for advice from the company you buy them from. Another reason a pond is a good idea is because of dragonflies. They also eat on the larvae and also the adults.
