*Clean the debris from the area and use a knife to cut away shredded paper or jagged chunks of the gypsum beneath.

*Using the putty knife, add a layer of mud over the whole area and fill in the missing pieces first. If the damage is a larger area, it may take a few layers (obviously, increasing the drying time for more that is added.

*Once the damaged area is plastered, level it with the wall.

*Sandpaper the putty smooth.

*Wipe the area down with a damp cloth and leave it to dry for a few minutes.

*You are now ready to paint!</description>
